Champion Boards - Women Added to Corporate Boards


Women on Boards -- 2008 at NewsOnWomen.com NewsOnWomen.com reported a new record for the year as 29 women were named to corporate boards in July for companies located in 15 states. This tops the previous record for the year with May's 28 nominations and February's 15 states: a nice recovery from a less-than-stellar June. The total number of new women director announcements for the first seven months of 2008 is 146, (7 nominations ahead of the total of 139 as of July, 2006 and 17 behind the total of 163 as of July 2007). Companies in California added a whopping 7 new women directors, with 2 added by New York and Minnesota firms and one firm from Massachusetts. Companies listed on the NASDAQ continued to lead, slightly, with 12 nonimations, compared to the NYSE with 10 nominations. The remainder were Private, AMEX or OTC BB firms.
