Comparison with Directors & Boards

Director & Boards magazine tracks new director appointments quarterly, reporting a resounding 45% share for women directors in the April-June 2012 roster. The chart (below) shows an impressive increase in the number and percentage share of women directors since the magazine began tracking in 1994.

The annual data presented in the chart below reveals the dramatic decline in the number of companies reporting new directors and the decline in the total number of directors appointed. Thus, women directors have made progress in an era of significant downward pressure on boards and corporations.

The chart (below) compares the quarterly data from Directors & Boards (bottom line) with quarterly data from Newsonwomen.com (upper line) indicating that the latter reports about 2.3 times the number of new women director appointments as the magazine -- primarily covering appointments at the below-F500 level and the many new private company director appointments that women are accepting.
